I recently had the honor of touring Allen Birthing Center with Allen Midwifery & Family Wellness where I received the warmest welcome.

When my family and I lived in Virginia, we had a small farm with a 1900s farmhouse. My first impression of Allen Birthing Center was that it reminded me of my last home in Virginia. The building is full of character, the stairs are a little creaky, and you can best sum it up by saying that it feels like home. The vibe is bed & breakfast meets coming home to grandma’s house. There’s even a picket fence, porch swing, and clawfoot tub. I felt completely at-home and welcome.

Everyone I met was warm, welcoming, and lovely. Truly. Everyone was open and happy to help or answer questions. I didn’t feel that I was a nuisance or just being tolerated, which is not always the vibe and that was much appreciated!

The birthing suites have lots of space to move around as well as beautiful birthing tubs. They also both have a private bathroom with a fairly large shower; two people could get in there comfortably. A feature I thought was neat was their waiting room for family members that you don’t particularly want IN your birth suite while you’re birthing, but you want them nearby. I thought that was a nice touch.

Unlike Fort Worth Birthing & Wellness Center, each suite does not have their own kitchen. There is a shared kitchen though and they do encourage eating in labor, which is always appreciated.

My final test is always whether I would birth there & I absolutely would. 10/10
