Texas Health Harris Downtown Fort Worth - Deluxe Postpartum Suites

Texas Health Harris in Downtown Fort Worth has rolled out luxe suites for $485 per night. Now, you cannot use HSA funds to pay for this hospital room upgrade and it is also not covered by your insurance. These suites are first come, first serve and have to be paid for in cash or credit.

So many have reached out with the real question - is it worth it? In my opinion, heck yes! I got to tour one of these newly finished postpartum suites in March and I was pretty impressed. I have given birth 5 times and each time, I was begging to leave. Postpartum hospital rooms are generally not the most comfortable. Not so with these luxe rooms! They have mini fridges with snacks, a coffee station, and a special dinner menu for mom and dad. Traditional postpartum rooms have none of this and Dad does not get fed - he’s on his own for meals. There’s also some extra perks like a bathrobe and slippers, a stuffy for baby, and fresh flowers. These postpartum rooms feel like a hotel.

My favorite part of these suites and the main reason I think they are worth the money is solely due to the tv room area. It is separate from the main area with the bed for mom and has a television, sofa, and a door to close it off from the main postpartum room. This space would be perfect for when family and friends come to meet your baby. I can also see this space being amazing for Dad to spend time with baby so Mom can get some rest since the room can be closed off from the main room.

Unfortunately for Dads, all these upgrades did not translate to an actual bed for Dads. Whomp, Whomp. Dad still gets a pullout sofa in these fancy rooms. There’s still room for improvement there, but overall I do think it is worth the extra expense.
